Loan Originator/Loan Officer Position

Overview

The Loan Originator (LO) is expected to source new business by developing professional industry contacts and/or working their social network.  The LO connects with prospective borrowers via internet, phone or face-to-face, and must provide a high level of service throughout the transaction.  The LO must be skilled in all facets of the application process:  be a quality and thorough application taker, possess extensive product knowledge to best counsel borrowers, and be well versed with respect to income calculations, asset review, and credit scoring.  The LO should display integrity, eagerness to learn, be customer centric, and be a self-starter.  The LO will spend significant time out of the office conducting sales calls, meeting with borrowers/referral partners, and attending closings.  The LO has a flexible work schedule however it is critical that they remain available after hours to respond to inquiries and questions from both customers and referral partners.  Candidates should have a minimum of three years mortgage related experience.  

 

Holyoke Credit Union (HCU) is looking for candidates in Western MA.

Responsibilities

  • Principal duty is the origination of mortgage loans.
  • Generates referral business, leads and relationships with individuals.
  • Conducts sales calls, attends realtor sales meeting, functions and trainings.
  • Takes thorough and complete loan applications; analyzes and prequalifies applicant information to determine viability of the client’s desired loan program.
  • Pulls credit, analyzes credit, and compares for accuracy with the mortgage borrower’s statements
  • Corrects inaccuracies and determines correct loan options for the borrower based upon the applicant’s present situation, future plans and preferred loan product.
  • Provides guidance and information relevant to the risks and benefits of each program the applicant is qualified for.
  • Effectively explains and communicates the terms of each product and ensures all documents necessary are signed by the borrower.
  • Gathers all initial documentation required based upon the applicant’s selected loan program including disclosure requirements.
  • Provides loan package to the loan processor for review, stacking and pre-submission audit.
  • Works with the loan processor to provide any letters of explanation, or additional documentation as necessary and required by underwriting to clear all conditions and close each loan.
  • Maintains a working file for the office as required for compliance.
  • Acts as a liaison for all parties to the transaction, i.e. buyer, seller, realtor, builder, title company, appraiser, credit vendors, etc.

 

 Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of mortgage products, pricing and guidelines.
  • Up to date understanding of all regulatory compliance and participate in various required trainings Holyoke Credit Union provides.
  • Ability to take accurate and thorough loan applications
  • Possess a working knowledge of credit reports, DTI, LTV, and CLTV ratios
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and outstanding member service is critical to success
  • Ability to create, implement and adapt a market penetration strategy for lead development, prospect to client conversion, and client to close conversion.
  • Ability to self-source business through sales activities including cold calling, appointment setting, and group presentations.
  • Ability to create marketing systems to source new business as well as keep in touch with existing clients, realtors, builders, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and other similar software preferred.

 

EDUCATION:

  • NMLS Licensed Loan Originators that meet state licensing requirements in each state they plan to do business in.
  • A minimum 3 years of Mortgage Origination experience is required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to effectively communicate verbally. The employee must be able to effectively operate a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 pounds. SENIOR LOAN SERVICER

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be computer literate with Microsoft Excel and Word applications. 5 years of lending experience preferred.
Status: Full time

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Borrower’s primary contact for questions regarding all active loans.
  • Provide an excellent customer/member experience for both external and internal customers. Ensure prompt response to customer inquiries.
  • Performs a variety tasks related to the servicing of booked mortgages, consumer and commercial loans.
  • Performs administrative tasks to support the residential, consumer and commercial loan servicing group. Duties may include reconciling additions and disbursements of escrow accounts, processing payoffs, and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs post booking reviews to confirm data integrity between source documents and HCU’s INSIGHT system.
  • Ensures that HCU’s loans are fully protected, collateral is perfected and insurance maintained at all times.
  • Reviews post-closing loan packages and maintains the organization of vaults and filing in accordance with record retention policies.
  • Drive enhanced financial performance for HCU.
  • Reviews daily and monthly tracking reports for ongoing maintenance and servicing efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Assists junior Loan Servicers on complex issues.

Assists manager with ongoing cross training of junior Loan Servicers.
