Holyoke Credit Union awarded 3 scholarships at a recent ceremony for its 2017 scholarship program.

Dennis Moran and Thomas Paquin, members of the Holyoke Credit Union’s Board of Directors and members of the Scholarship Committee, presented the awards to Vanessa Bonebo of West Springfield, Karleigh Pfau of Agawam, and Hailey Butler of Holyoke.

Each recipient received $500 to put toward her college expenses.

Hailey, the daughter of Christopher and Elizabeth Butler of Holyoke, is a senior at Holyoke High School. She is planning to attend Lasell College in Newton, MA in the fall majoring in Fashion Marketing, Promotion and Communication. Hailey is the Class Treasurer, a member of the Fall and Winter Cheer Leading Squad, a past member of the Business Club and softball team, and is actively involved in student government. She is also involved in various charities such as Pennies for Patients and the HHS Food Drive.

Karleigh is the daughter of Mark and Erin Pfau of Agawam. She is a senior at Agawam High School. She is planning to attend Elms College, majoring in Nursing this fall. Karleigh is the Lacrosse and Basketball Manager, is active in student government and is a member of the Future Medical Career Club, the yearbook staff and volunteers for Helping Hands.

Vanessa, daughter of William and Melissa Hensen of West Springfield, is a senior at West Springfield High School. She is planning to attend St. Michael’s College in Vermont this fall, majoring in biology. Vanessa is a member of the Drama Club, Varsity Tennis Team, the Winter Formal and Prom Planning Committee and the Irish Cultural Club. Her many volunteer activities include being a member of the WS Colleen Court, Operation Santa Program for the WS Park and Recreation, the WS Teen Center, WS Junior Garden Club, International Rainbow for Girls, Red Door Community Theater, University of Vermont Perkins Summer Science Camp, Saint Michael’s Playhouse and St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church.

The Board of Directors and the entire staff here at HCU are very proud of these student members, as well as all those graduating this year. We wish them success in all their future endeavors.
